On Dec 1st, the Art Histories and CAHIM Fellows and Hannah Baader (KHI in Florenz – MPI/
Art Histories) visited the Mesoamerican collection of Ethnologisches Museum, SMB. Together with the museum director Viola König, the collection curator Maria Gaida, and Sanja Savkic (Art Histories Fellow 2016/17), the group discussed particular objects of the collection. Viola König introduced into the museum and its history and addressed the future of the collection and the move to Humboldt Forum. The joint discussion addressed questions of restoration, and present and future display, whereas Maria Gaida and Sanja Savkic presented certain aspects of Mexican history and cultures by means of certain aesthetic practices, as a preparation for the Art Histories Travelling Seminar 2017 to Mexico.
